Shuk Shuk, Come On Cows!!

Yesterday morning I was finishing up my last few things before the girls and I left for our busy day! The girls had their jackets on and were ready to go, Morgan decided to open the back door so she could look at the cows which made Riley so excieted she squeeled. Mogan flug the door open...and no cows! They were at the back side of the field. The girls instantly come to me for help. As all good mothers do I offered some assistance. There I was at 7am on the 21st of December dressing in my brand new Jonnie Boden black wool skirt, black turtle neck, new necklace and my tall black boots (huka boots as John and Morgan call them). I had to agree with the girls the cows were a long way off. So I proceded to shuk, shuk, shuk, the little saying my husband does when he puts cake out. The cows happy with thier wheat stubble just ingnored me and my pleads to come running. I resorted to trickery since bribery was not working. Again all dressed up on the back porch I began to beller as a new born calf would (bet you didn't know I knew how to do that). Again the cows ingnored me, so as a last resort I hit the panic button on my key chain. The horn on my car started honking and the lights began flashing! That got their attention, the cows came running...just in time for me to have to load the girls up and head to town. All in a days work for a farm wife!!!

On my way to town I started thinkning about how funny I would have looked to the neighbors if I had any! I started to think about when my sister and I were little. My parents always had a turkey or two, don't ask me why. When my sister and I would run out the front door to get on the bus the turkey would follow us out there. My mom would stand at the kitchen sink, open the window and gobble like a turkey, the turkey's curious as they were would quickly turn around and run back to the house. I can only imagine what the other kids on the bus and the bus driver thought!!

I Got Us A Place!

As most of you know I have spent my entire life on a farm. My parents farmed and ranched and my husband and I farm and ranch, it just in my blood. I got to have neighbors for a few years while I was in college but before I could finish my Master's Degree my husband got the itch for country living and it was no time before I was back on the farm. John and I were living in Lubbock about the time he got the itch. He had been home for the weekend working on the farm and I stayed in Lubbock, he came back one Sunday and said I think we should move home. We talked it over that week and thought we could make it work. Nothing set in stone, but we were ironing out some possibilities. The very next weekend John went home again to work on the farm and I stayed in Lubbock for clinicles. Sunday rolled around and John came back to Lubbock so very happy, he was so excited..Guess what my love, I got us a place! You are going to love it! It is 15 miles north of your parents and 15 miles south of mine! It is great. I quickly did a little figuring in my mind and new exactly which place John was talking about... John I asked isn't that a wheat field? Yes he replied but don't worry I used the lawn mower to mow down all the wheat and borrowed dad's tractor so I could move the trailer house in on our new place!! The scene from 8 seconds ran through my mind all week of Lane Frost pulling the mobile trailer next to his wives family! Well when the next weekend rolled around I finally got to see the place. It had a beautiful view and not a neighbor in sight. It felt good to know I was returning to farm life. A few short weeks later I waved good-bye to Lubbock and with a knot in my stomach I moved into my new, much smaller trailer house. Now 4 years later I am happy to report that we are about to relocate, not far just 2 miles down the road to our new home.

The Trailer

I love living in the country and I am happy to raise my children here. I don't mind the drive to town, it provides a great time for us all as a family to be together or for me to visit with the girls. I don't mind that when the wind blows I won't have Internet service. I don't mind that cows moooo at 3 in the morning. I don't mind the fact that a farmers work is never done. I miss being able to run to the store and get that one thing I forgot earlier. I miss not being able to run pick up dinner when I don't want to cook. I miss wonderful starbucks coffee at anytime of the day. But country life is a part of me that will never change.

Morgan has figured out how to combine city fun with country life. She loves her boots and jeans they are truly her most prized possession, but she would not think of leaving the house without her lipstick and hairbow! Riley loves boots too, especially her daddy's. Once she puts them on you can barely see her, she can't move in them but loves them just the same. Riley also loves her bow mostly taking it out, but I am working on her. As for the lipstick I am trying to keep that a secret for now!

Yes we are lucky to be a farm family, sometimes I forget the advantages of raising my children as country kids.

1 Mipeemipee

Ok so I spent the entire eveinging hidding in my own house, don't worry no one was trying to get me, but two little girls were looking for me. Morgan loves to play hide-n-seek. She goes to hide her eyes and than counts 1 mipeemipee (mississippi), 2 mipeemipee, 3 mipeemipee... than her and Riley come try to find me. When they get close I jump out and say BOOO they love it! They scream, jump, and than come running over to me for huggs and kisses, they think it is so much fun, and you know what so do I.

We had a great weekend, we all loaded up and went to Lubbock where we met up with the Howards and the Pipkins. We had a wonderful dinner at Abuelos which went suprisingly well since there were 6 children at the table. Than we went and looked at Christmas lights and than it was off to ride the Polar Express. It was so much fun, I think I enjoyed it as much as the kids. I hated for the night to end everyone was having such a great time.

Befor we left on our great adventure Morgan and I were bored one day while Riley was napping so we made sugar cookies and iced them, correction Morgan ate the icing as fast as I was icing!!! They turned out cute for a non-talent cookie decorater and a 2 year old!! It got me thinking about my New Years Resolution. I hate them and never have one, but I do try to set fun goals for the New Year. This year I want to take a cookie decorating class, I also want to get a nice camera and learn to take really great pics!!!! Ok, so there they are, sort of boring, I know, and I realize my goals for 2010 are pretty self serving and will do nothing to contribute to society (unless you like cookies and good pictures) but they are my goals and I am going to enjoy trying to reach them. I hope since I have posted them for everyone to see you guys will keep me a little more accountable.

Merry Christmas!!

Celebration Time

The Christmas tree is up and fully decorated, the rest of the house is too!!! The gifts are wrapped and under the tree, and the holiday menu is planned! I have said it before and I must say it again I LOVE CHRISTMAS, I also love the reason for Christmas. To know that we have a Father who loves us so much that he sent His Son to die for our sins is such a comfort. I am a parent and I guess I don't understand the power of Gods love for us because I don't think I could send my child to do for us what Jesus did.

Thankfully we have had some snow it just seems more like Christmas when there is snow! Kye got to come down this weekend to see all of us and we took all three kids to see Santa. It was so funny they all started out crying and wanting to run away, before we were done they were all mostly happy, and I had to go back 2 or 3 times to get Morgan away from him. She decided she liked Santa, Riley never really warmed up to the Jolly man! Morgan told Santa she wanted a baby doll, WHAT!!!! I guess it is back to the toy store for this Santa! Riley all she wanted for Christmas was to get off Santa's lap! Kye was sort of on the same page with Riley. Mom and dad left today to take Kye home, we are really going to miss him!

This Saturday John and I are meeting some of our friends and their kids in Lubbock and we are all going to ride the Polar Express Christmas Train. It is a lot of fun I did it with the girls last year. You hear the Polar Express story, drink hot chocolate, meet Santa (hope that goes better!) and dance. I wish I could take my video camera because with a train full of children and parents I think there will be some very entertaining moments! I will try to post a few pictures when I can.

Christmas Is In The Air!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with all of our family! Morgan got to play with her boys (Garett, Collin, Blake, & Gage) and loved it! We took pictures of all of the Fury grand kids and they turned out great. For so long it was just boys, now the girls are finally catching up.

Riley has started "looking" for us. It is so cute to be in a different room and hear her call out Momma, Daddee. She is also starting to like baby dolls and it is so cute to watch her copy what Morgan is doing, I guess today after work I am going to go buy another baby stroller because one is no longer enough for our house.

It is finally Christmas time at our house, last night the girls and I made snickerdoodle bread so the house would smell like Christmas, than we popped popcorn and decorated the tree. Every year I do something different with our tree, I can't help it I just always see something pretty and have to copy it. This year our tree is sesame street. I decorated it with character ornaments and than bought some of the figurines at the dollar store. It has sparkly glitter balls in pink and blue. It really turned out pretty good. The girls love it and best of all it is child friendly, I don't have to worry if they decide to take an ornament off and play with it for a while. After all the tree is for them! I put up our little tree this year, and it was perfect for Riley to help decorate. We are ready for Santa to come to town!!

I really wanted to start working out in the mornings again, it just makes my day go better. I have gotten out of the routien and needed something to give me a little jump start. I had told John I wanted a Wii Fitness for Christmas, and as all good husbands do he said do you mind buying it? Do I mind, no. So I decided since I had it in the house I would just wrap the box and go ahead and start using it. I love it!!! I have so much fun. Technology never seems to stop amazing me. Who would have ever guessed I would be working out and playing games at the sametime while I stood in my living room!! Two thumbs up for the Wii!!

A Time To Be Thankful!

It's Thanksgiving time, I always like fall and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving marks the holiday season and I love it. I love the busy shopping days, I love finding the perfect gift for the special people in my life, I love time with family and friends, I love cool nights and warm clothes. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, John, the girls, and I are going over to John's parents house this year for Thanksgiving. John's 3 sisters and their families and all their grandparents will be there. The Fury's are a large family so it is always fun to get everyone together. I am sad I won't be with mom, dad, or Danielle this year, but we decided to do Thanksgiving with the Fury's and Christmas with the Smith's. I have so much to be thankful for this year, like all years. I am thankful for my family, I am so thankful for my girls who bring such joy to my everyday life. I am thankful that we are all healthy. I am thankful for my wonderful friends. I am thankful for the love of our Father who sent his Son to die for our sins. I am thankful for my hard working husband and for my job so that we can provide for our families needs and wants. I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and friends.

Thieves, Elmo, & more

Last Tuesday after getting off work I decided to head to walmart to pick up a few last minute groceries, while I was there some thieve decided to take my purse out of my shopping cart while I unloaded my groceries from my cart to my car, thanks for that. I didn't really notice my purse was gone until I left walmart and went to get my girls something to eat that's when I realized... Morgan was so hungry and I felt so helpless as I tried to find her something in the car to eat and cancel my bank cards all at the same time. Needless to say we got everything taken care of and I spent the rest of last week trying to get my life back, my everything was in that purse...and it was my favorite purse! I don't understand people!!!

My week got a lot better on Wednesday, John and I took the girls to see Sesame Street live and we all had a great time. The girls were so excited to see elmo! When all the characters ran on stage the place went crazy!!! Morgan stood in front of her seat so she could dance, Riley stood on John's lap or my lap so she could see and dance, the people in front of us decided to turn around and watch Riley instread of the show. I can't tell you the excitement on the girls faces!! We had a great time!!

We are all ready for Thanksgiving and have big plans to go to the Fury's house. Morgan is all into making turkey's so I have had to be creative, but we have had fun. Riley could care less about a turkey, she may change her mind after she eats Thanksgiving dinner. Yesterday Morgan decided Riley was done drinking milk so she went over and snatched Riley's cup, Riley was not happy about this so she decided to bite Morgan WHAT...where did she learn to bite! Morgan spent the rest of the day telling us all about how Riley bite me finger right dear. Last night after I put her to bed she calls me into her room and tells me Mom I have a bad cough in the morning call Dr. Couch (the girls Doc), tell him he needs to look in my ear. She was so serious it was so funny, Riley slept through the entire thing. Well this week is shaping up nicely as long as the thieves stay away we should have a great week. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Sesame Street Live!!

Ok so we are headed to Amarillo tomorrow so Morgan and Riley can see Elmo!!! I am sure they will be so excited to see everyone actually! I just hope they don’t get scared and run the other direction! I had to work the night clinic last night, something I rarely do, so the girls got to stay the night with mom and dad. I know they had a great time. Mom always gives them a little snack of cookies and milk before bed…this is not a routine practiced at our house Morgan was so excited yesterday because today is Grumpies birthday so they got to make a cake and she sang Happy Birthday to him about 2 million times and woke up singing it again today… I wonder what she will be singing tomorrow now that Grumpies birthday is almost over?

A blog really?

Ok, so I never saw myself as a person with a blog, but that seems to be the thing to do these days and I don’t want to be left behind!! Ok so really my friend was telling me about her blog which I love to read because it is so funny and I am glad I am not the only person whose life is crazy and silly and fun…but my real motivation for starting this blog-I want to remember all of this crazy silly fun and share it with my girls when they get older…and so I can take a trip down memory lane and remember those things in my life that didn’t change my life but were part of who I am! Ok so if you are reading this you probably know all about me and my family but just in case here we go (plus don’t all blogs start out with an “about me” paragraph) I was born in Clovis NM and I still reside in Clovis NM…I moved to Lubbock Texas for a few great years of fun. My husband’s job brought us back to Clovis and that is where we will always call home and the place we hope to raise our family. Speaking of my husband and family I have been married to John, for the past 5 years We have two beautiful girls Morgan who is 2 and Riley who is 1. Morgan is so full of energy and life. She is into “helping” right now which is so much fun because I can always use a little help. She amazes me everyday. She is such a little chatter box and I am always surprised at what she says…where does she learn this stuff. Right now one of her favorite things to do is tell me wait your turn momma wait your turn whenever we stop at a stop light or stop sign. Than when I start to go again she says go momma go!!! For the past few months she has also been an excellent bathroom cheerleader. No one in our family can use the restroom without her in there saying good girl momma or my favorite…good girl daddy! And in public restrooms you better be careful because she will announce to anyone who will listen good girl momma you teeteed in the potty. I have heard snickers from more than 1 stall before! Riley or riley-poo as Morgan calls her is the sweetest baby you will ever meet. Whenever you pick her up she just melts in your arms. She loves kisses and putting her head on your shoulder. She is so sweet and always happy. Don’t let me mislead you, she can scream with the best of them if she wants you to know something but that is only once in a while. Right now she is all about her yellow blanket and elmo, elmo, elmo. She to is going to be a chatter box like her sister and already can say so many words. Her favorite work gulk (milk)! Ok, so enough about me tell me a little about you. Hope you enjoy my blog!
